The Bollywood film Assi, starring , is facing a very disappointing run at the Indian box office. Even after five days in theatres, the film has failed to attract audiences in large numbers. Despite decent reviews, the collections remain extremely low, and the film is now heading towards a clear disaster verdict.
Released on February 20, is a courtroom drama featuring a strong cast, including Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. However, star power and content have not helped the film commercially.
Poor Start at the Box Office
Assi opened with a weak response on its first day. The opening figures were below expectations, and the film could not show growth over the weekend. While Saturday and Sunday numbers were slightly better than Friday, they were still not enough to create momentum.
After the weekend, the situation became worse. On Monday and Tuesday, the film failed to even touch the ₹1 crore mark, clearly showing that audience interest was very limited.
Low buzz before release and weak ground-level promotion also played a big role in the film’s poor performance.
Assi Box Office Collection Day 5
On Day 5 (Tuesday), Assi earned around ₹85 lakh at the Indian box office. This was slightly better than Day 4’s ₹70 lakh collection. The small jump came mainly because of discounted ticket prices under Blockbuster Tuesday offers.
However, this minor growth does not change the overall result.
Day-wise Box Office Collection (India Net)
- Day 1: ₹1 crore
- Day 2: ₹1.6 crore
- Day 3: ₹1.6 crore
- Day 4: ₹70 lakh
- Day 5: ₹85 lakh
Total Collection (5 Days): ₹5.75 crore net
India Gross Collection: approx. ₹6.78 crore
These numbers are extremely low for a film of this scale.
Budget vs Collection: Huge Gap
As per bollybudget.com reports, Assi is made on an estimated budget of ₹40 crore. Against this, the film has managed to earn only ₹5.75 crore in five days.
This means the movie has recovered just 14.37% of its total budget so far. The remaining gap is very large, making recovery almost impossible through theatrical earnings.
At the current pace, trade experts believe Assi may end its lifetime run at less than ₹15 crore net, which is far below the break-even mark.
Assi Box Office Verdict
Based on box office performance and budget comparison, Assi is clearly heading towards a flop verdict.

- India Net Collection: ₹5.75 crore
- Budget Recovery: 14.37%

Assi’s Box Office Journey
Assi’s box office journey proves once again that positive reviews alone are not enough. Without strong audience pull and buzz, even content-driven films struggle in theatres.
For now, Assi stands as one of the biggest box office disappointments of the year. All eyes are on whether digital and satellite rights can help reduce the losses, as theatrical recovery looks nearly impossible.
