Netflix: Fixed Movie Review, Story, Acting, Verdict and Should You Watch

I watched this movie today, and I am really sorry for the late review of this movie. My Netflix subscription was finished 🥺, so I had to renew it before watching. Finally, I got the chance to sit down and enjoy Fixed (2025), and I am so happy to share this review with you.

The animated adventure comedy Fixed was released on 13 August 2025 on Netflix. It is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the genius behind Hotel Transylvania and other animated classics. The film runs for 1 hour and 25 minutes, and it is filled with laughter, adventure, and heart.

The cast is impressive, with voices from Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, Adam Devine, Fred Armisen, Eric Bauza, Kari Wahlgren, River Gallo, and Beck Bennett. Together, they make the animated characters come alive with humor and warmth.

Right now, the movie holds a 7.9/10 IMDb rating, which shows that people are really enjoying it. Some call it one of the funniest animated movies of the year, while others say it also has a sweet emotional core. At Holly Review, our rating is 3.5/5 stars.

Review

Fixed is an animated comedy that is not only funny but also has an adventure-packed storyline. Genndy Tartakovsky has created a world where animals talk, joke, and take us on a hilarious journey.

The humor is sharp but also family-friendly. At the same time, the movie includes touching themes of friendship, courage, and being true to yourself. This balance makes it fun for kids and adults.

If you have enjoyed reading our Smurfs: Fun and Colorful Adventure Review, you will know how much we value animated films that mix fun with meaningful storytelling. Fixed does exactly that.

Story

The movie tells the story of a brave dog named Bull, voiced by Idris Elba. Bull learns that he is scheduled to be taken to the vet to be “fixed.” Realizing what this means, Bull decides he doesn’t want his fun life to end so soon. He sets off on a wild adventure with his animal friends to escape his fate.

On the way, Bull and his gang go through hilarious situations, dangerous chases, and moments of real bonding. The movie is not just about comedy but also about finding freedom, fighting for your choices, and appreciating friendships.

The story is simple but creative, like a mix of humor and heartwarming adventure. It reminds me of the kind of storytelling we saw in Review of Bad Guys 2 where laughs and emotion walk hand in hand.

Cast

  • Idris Elba – as Bull, the brave and determined dog who doesn’t want to be “fixed”
  • Kathryn Hahn – as Betsy, a smart and sassy cat who helps Bull in his plan
  • Adam Devine – as Max, Bull’s funny best friend who always makes mistakes
  • Fred Armisen – as the goofy neighbor dog who adds a lot of humor
  • Eric Bauza – as the clever parrot who joins the adventure
  • Kari Wahlgren – as Daisy, a kind-hearted animal who believes in Bull
  • River Gallo – as a bold and energetic rabbit
  • Beck Bennett – as the strict but clueless vet who is after Bull

Acting

Even though this is an animated movie, the voice acting is fantastic. Idris Elba gives Bull a strong but emotional personality. You feel his bravery and his fear. Kathryn Hahn adds so much sass and humor as Betsy, making her character stand out.

Adam Devine is hilarious as Max. His comic timing is perfect, and kids will especially love his silly energy. Fred Armisen and Eric Bauza also bring laughter with their unique voices.

Just like in The Naked Gun 2025 Preview, the comedy is carried heavily by the cast’s delivery, and here the voice actors absolutely shine.

Direction

Genndy Tartakovsky once again proves why he is one of the best animation directors today. His direction makes Fixed full of energy, humor, and beautiful visuals. He knows how to use fast-paced comedy while still giving space for emotional scenes.

The way he balances fun with heartfelt moments shows his mastery in animation storytelling. The movie feels polished and perfectly paced, never too long or too short.

Critical Response

Critics are mostly positive about Fixed. Many say it is the funniest animated movie of the summer. Some appreciate its adult-level jokes hidden inside kid-friendly humor, something that families can enjoy together.

A few critics felt the story was too simple, but almost all agreed that the film is entertaining and re-watchable. It got the same kind of positive buzz we saw with Trainwreck Pi Moms Review, where critics highlighted how fun and relatable the storytelling was.

Plus Points

  • Excellent direction by Genndy Tartakovsky
  • Funny and emotional at the same time
  • Great voice cast led by Idris Elba and Kathryn Hahn
  • Perfect length, not too long
  • Bright and colorful animation
  • Entertaining for both kids and adults

Minus Points

  • The story is predictable in some parts
  • People expecting deep or complex themes may find it too simple
  • Some jokes might feel repetitive to adults

Technical Department

The animation quality is top-notch. The characters are expressive, the movements are smooth, and the backgrounds are rich and colorful. The action scenes are full of energy, and the comedy timing is supported perfectly by visuals.

Editing is sharp, keeping the story fast and engaging. The sound design is playful, matching the cartoonish style of the film. This technical polish makes Fixed look and feel like a big-budget animated adventure.

Music Review

The background score and songs add more fun to the film. The music is light, cheerful, and matches the comedy tone. Some scenes even use pop-style tracks that make the chase moments extra exciting.

While it does not have a soundtrack that you will remember forever, it works perfectly for the story. Just like in Happy Gilmore 2 Review, the music adds to the fun without taking the focus away from the comedy.

Verdict

Fixed is a pure entertainer. It is funny, adventurous, and heartwarming all at once. The voice cast does an amazing job, and Genndy Tartakovsky’s direction ensures the movie never loses its charm.

It may not have the depth of some Pixar films, but it wins with its humor and lovable characters. Families, kids, and even adults will enjoy watching it.

Should You Watch Fixed?

Yes, you should absolutely watch Fixed. If you are looking for something funny, colorful, and filled with adventure, this movie is perfect. It will make you laugh, and it may even warm your heart.

If you liked our Hari Hara Veera Mallu Review or The Fantastic Four Review, you know we always recommend movies that bring both entertainment and emotion. Fixed delivers exactly that.

At Holly Review, we give Fixed a strong 4.5/5 stars.
