Ajay Devgn is back with Son Of Sardaar 2, a loud and colourful comedy that tries to bring back the magic of the original 2012 film. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and written by Mohit Jain and Jagdeep Sidhu, this movie is all about laughter, family, and a bit of action. It was released on 1st August 2025 in Hindi and runs for 2 hours and 27 minutes. The IMDb rating is 6.2/10, and people have given mixed reviews. Some liked the comedy and performances, while others felt the humour was outdated. Our rating is 4 out of 5 because it made us laugh a lot, and the emotions worked well too.
I watched this movie today in the morning 9 to 12 show, and here is my full review.

Review
Son Of Sardaar 2 is a full-on entertainer. It has action, comedy, songs, family drama, and emotion. The movie brings old-style Bollywood fun where nothing is too serious, but everything is loud and dramatic. The dialogues are funny, and Ajay Devgn once again plays the funny and brave Sikh character with full energy. Sanjay Dutt is strong in his role, and Mrunal Thakur adds sweetness and charm.
Story
The story starts where the first film left off. Jassi (Ajay Devgn) is now a respected man in his village but still finds himself stuck in funny and dangerous situations. A new family feud begins, and Jassi must solve the fight while keeping everyone happy. The love story between Jassi and the new girl (played by Mrunal Thakur) adds romance. Meanwhile, old enemies and new problems come together, making the movie full of twists and comic moments. The second half brings some emotional scenes too, especially with Ravi Kishan and Deepak Dobriyal’s characters.
Cast
- Ajay Devgn as Jassi – Brave, funny, and lovable
- Mrunal Thakur as the new love interest – Sweet and beautiful
- Sanjay Dutt as the rival – Strong and serious
- Kubbra Sait – Funny and fierce
- Ravi Kishan – Comic timing is perfect
- Deepak Dobriyal – Adds fun and emotion
- Nav Ghotra – New but decent role
- Nalneesh Neel – Supporting but funny
Acting
Ajay Devgn looks comfortable in his role. He has done this type of character before, but his timing and energy make it enjoyable again. Mrunal Thakur brings freshness, and her chemistry with Ajay is nice. Sanjay Dutt gives a strong performance in a serious role but also joins in comic scenes with a straight face, which makes it funnier. Ravi Kishan and Deepak Dobriyal are natural comedians and do great work. Kubbra Sait surprises with her bold performance.
Direction
Director Vijay Kumar Arora keeps the movie colourful and fast. He mixes comedy and emotion well, though some scenes feel a bit stretched. The rural Punjabi background looks nice, and the action scenes are clean and fun to watch. He has handled a big star cast with care.

Critical Response
Critics are giving mixed reviews. Some praised the performance and humour, while others said the movie feels like a copy of old comedies. But the audience, especially fans of Ajay Devgn and family entertainers, are liking it. The theatre was full when I watched it, and people laughed loudly during comic scenes. Children and families seemed to enjoy it most.
Plus Points
- Ajay Devgn’s comic timing
- Colourful Punjabi setting
- Fun songs and dance
- Good chemistry between actors
- Clean family comedy
- Emotional moments in the second half
Minus Points
- Predictable story
- Few jokes feel old
- Dragged scenes in the middle
- Over-the-top action in some parts
Technical Department
The cinematography by Aseem Bajaj is beautiful. He captures the Punjab fields and village scenes very nicely. The editing is decent but could be tighter in the second half. Costumes are colourful and match the mood. The action scenes are fun, with slow-motion entries and funny fights that work well in a comedy.
Music Review
Music by Salil Amrute is catchy and fits well with the film. The Bhangra songs are energetic, and the romantic songs are sweet. The background score is loud but matches the comic and action scenes. One song during the fight scene becomes the highlight of the film. The dance steps are simple but fun to watch.
